The vehicles will start at the end of the pulling track and run to the oposite end. There they will make a&nbsp; 180 degree turn and run back toward the starting end. There will be a series of bumps and jumps similar to last year. Our plans are to have heats to determine lane choice for the feature races. The number of vehicles will determine how the races are run. <li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Driver must be at least 18 years old or have a minor release form signed by parent or guardian. Each vehicle may only be entered into competition one(1) time per event. Each driver may enter only one (1) time per class. Driver must have a valid state driver's license.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All contestants must sign a waiver understanding that they are competing at their own risk and that they will not bring suit against any officials, employees, event sponsors or the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. By signing the release form you agree to all rules set forth.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Jefferson Co. Fair officials have the right to approve or reject any or all entry applications.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Entry fee will be $20.00. Vehicles may be divided into 2 separate divisions, (2 Wheel drive or 4 Wheel drive) depending on amount of vehicles.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Entries will close one hour before session is scheduled to start.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All vehicles must pass tech inspection before competing. If the officials determine a vehicle is unsafe, officials have the right to not allow vehicle to compete. Vehicle does not need current inspection sticker, license or insurance. Vehicle must be in the same physical condition as at the time it was last inspected for highway use. </span><strong><span style="font-size: 140%;">T</span><span style="font-size: 140%;">ECH INSPECTION AREA CLOSES ONE HOUR BEFORE SESSION IS SCHEDULED TO START.</span></strong></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All drivers must attend the driver's meeting unless approved by track official.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">A vehicle may be disqualified for either emotional or physical reasons by Competition Director or&nbsp; track officials. Example: Drugs or drinking alcoholic beverages. (Any driver or any of his or her pit crew consuming an intoxicating agent, and/or drugs, prior to or during the event will be disqualified from the event. Drivers will be held responsible for the actions of their crew).</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">If any vehicle and/or driver are disqualified for any reason, no refund of entry fee or pit fee will be given.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Competition vehicles must be operated in a safe manner at all times within the confines of the track, pit area, and staging areas. Track officials have the right to stop and disqualify any vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. Pit and staging areas speed limit is 5 M.P.H.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Competitor must wait for the green flag from Starting Flagman before starting the run. Competitor must stop immediately upon signal from the red flag displayed by the Flagman.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Only the driver will be allowed in the vehicle when it is being towed or driven in the pit area, staging area, or track. No riders in or on any vehicle while in the pit are, staging area, or in the track area.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">When Competition vehicle's engine is running, a competent driver must be in the driver's seat. No exceptions.<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> Automatic disqualification.</span></strong></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Track officials will have the option to check competitors for rule violations at any time during the event.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All contestants must drive vehicle onto track and into position to compete under its own power and must leave track under its own power unless for breakage.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">No one allowed on the track except for track officials and contestant.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Fuel: Pump gas only. All forms of nitro are illegal as a fuel or additive. Nitrous oxide or accelerators are not permitted. No nitrous oxide allowed. Diesel fuel is permitted in diesel engines.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All vehicles must be equipped with at least a 2-1/2 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher or 1 lb. halon extinguisher. Extinguishers must be fully charged, in working condition, and secured convenient to driver.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Seat belts (both lap belts and shoulder strap) required and must be worn.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All vehicles must have a 4 wheel hydraulic brake system in good working condition. No individual wheel brakes allowed.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All open body, removable, fiberglass or soft top vehicles must have at least a 6-point roll bar fastened (in no less than 4 locations) directly or indirectly to the frame. Any vehicle with original front or rear window glass removed must have minimum of a 4 point roll bar. (Hardware Cloth is recommended over drivers section of front window for protection from flying dirt or rocks). Roll bars are recommended in all vehicles in competition. No tailpipe tubing allowed for construction of roll bars.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Driver must wear D.O.T. approved full-face helmet. Helmet strap must be fastened. Driver must wear long pants and long sleeve shirts, no open footwear allowed. Fire retardant jackets and pants, shoes and gloves <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>HIGHLY</strong></span> recommended.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Vehicles must have original firewall and floor in original location. Only holes allowed are those for brakes, clutch, transmission controls, and wiring. If battery is relocated, it must be in a plastic battery box securely mounted. No batteries allowed inside of vehicle.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Tires must have D.O.T. approved number. Maximum tire height is 36 inches. O.E.M. type wheels are required, maximum wheel width 10". No cutting of tire tread allowed. Wheel weights must be removed before competing. (Non tagged Vehicles only). Hubcap or wheel covers must be removed before competing. No split rims allowed.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">No loose objects in cab or any place else in vehicle. Any ballast must be <span style="text-decoration: underline;">securely</span> mounted.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Engine must be in original location as intended by manufacturer. (NO REAR ENGINE VEHICLES, NO MID ENGINE VEHICLES). Engines must be the same as came in the vehicle and in the original location. (Original engine location means just that, engine cannot be moved up, down, forward or backward from the manufactured original location). Motor mounts can be strengthened.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Body, hood, bed, fenders and wheelbase must meet O.E.M. specifications. Flat beds must be street legal for WV. All pick-up truck beds must be firmly attached to the chassis. Tailgates must be securely fastened or removed. If hood is bolted down, there must be a hole in the hood that measures at least 8" in diameter above the carburetor.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">No engine modifications to increase horsepower are allowed. "Made for racing" or high performance engine parts will not be permitted. Stock factory O.E.M. engine components (carburetor, intake manifold, distributor, rocker arms, camshaft, pistons, crankshaft, etc.) are required &amp; must be the correct year, make &amp; model of engine being used. Track officials will have the option to check engines for rule violations at any time during the event.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Headers and open exhaust permitted. Exhaust must exit under vehicle.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Radiator must be in original location. All engine fans must be shrouded. Radiator overflow hoses must point downward.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Must be stock factory suspension, O.E.M. replacement or equivalent. Dual shocks are permitted on front end to reduce breakage. Original front shock must remain mounted in original location: second front shock must be original equipment replacement or equivalent for the vehicle being used. Aftermarket lift kits will be allowed (Max. lift 4"). Length of suspension travel cannot be increased except to accommodate lift kit. Rear shocks must be mounted at original locations. Racing suspension components will not be allowed. Call Dave Bush at 304-725-5113 if you have any questions.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">4 wheel drive vehicles must compete in the 4WD class if classes are divided. Vehicle must be in 4 wheel drive when approaching the starting line and must make the entire run through the course in 4 wheel drive.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Non-licensed or non-tagged vehicles must have some form of safety strap to hold up front portion of driveshaft in case of failure; must be securely mounted. Chain or cable (min 1/4"), steel strapping, etc. will be allowed. This is highly recommended on all vehicles.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Neck collars will be provided and must be worn.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Fuel tanks - Stock fuel tanks in stock locations are highly recommended. Approved fuel tank (racing fuel cell) may be relocated in the bed of pick-up trucks and must be securely mounted. No fuel tanks or fuel lines allowed inside of vehicle unless they are factory installed or they meet the following regulations.</span><ol>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Approved fuel cell is used and it is located in rear most location in vehicle.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">The fuel cell must be enclosed in a steel containment box manufactured by the fuel cell builder and securely mounted.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">All fuel lines must be the braided steel type lines with the proper connection fittings and be immediately routed through the floor of the vehicle.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Battery cannot be located inside cab of the vehicle.</span></li>
</ol></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Frames - Must be complete original frame rails and cross members at original locations. Cutting frame rails and cross members to lighten vehicle is not permitted. Frames can be repaired for rust damage: any frame reinforcement must be approved by Tech Official.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Verbal or physical abuse towards any track official will result in automatic disqualification.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">Contest will be governed by track officials and Competition Director with all decisions final.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">The Promoter or Competition Director reserves the right to change any safety rules if the feel it is necessary.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 120%;">The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and, by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The event director shall be empowered to permit restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.</span></li>
